I connected with Ken Montville, who writes MDSuburbanHomes.com, through Twitter. The most invaluable thing about Twitter is when we can get to know someone on a “Hey, nice to meet you!” level and then it turns into “So, what do you do for a living?”

Ken is extremely personable, which makes him someone you would want to go to if you had questions about real estate. When Ken started advertising on The Daily Blonde, I thought it would be great to have him write a guest post. The real estate market is in the limelight right now, so visit Ken’s site often to learn more!

We all know that all real estate is local. Unless you happen to listen to CNBC, CNN or any number of other national news outlets that are telling you about the “housing market”. Then, of course, it’s a universal phenomenon.

The fact is that, for the most part, real estate is local. Prices, foreclosure rates, supply of homes on the market and all kinds of other factors vary from place to place. Yet, there are certain common threads that are woven throughout the whole real estate tapestry. That’s what I blog about.

Sure, I blog about local events (and have an opinion about them) and I’ll even post about a listing or two from time to time. For the most part, though, I blog about the experience of either buying or selling a home – things like the type of mortgages that are out there and what makes them different from one another, what to expect during the home search and home buying process…and home selling process.

My beat is the MD Suburbs of DC. These includes areas both inside and outside the infamous Washington Beltway (you know it’s infamous because newsies always talks about “inside the Beltway”). Still uncertain? Here’s a Google Map that will give you a general idea.

Of course, if you want to know what I really think you can hit my blog – MD Suburbs or connect with me on: Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

JobShouts.com: Using Twitter to Broadcast Job Openings

In Advertiser on The Daily Blonde on 04/13/2009 at 6:10 pm

I am excited to add the up and coming company, JobShouts.com, to my list of advertisers on The Daily Blonde! Spreading the word about small businesses while keeping my blog affiliate-ad free is my small way of helping small businesses thrive in a tough economy.

What is JobShouts.com?
JobShouts is the first free job board to integrate social media as part of its delivery platform. Employers can post their jobs for free. Many employers are cutting back on expensive boards like Monster and CareerBuilder, which often charge excessive amounts for each job posting. Employers are not only embracing social media, they are embracing innovative recruiting that is cost effective. This gives JobShouts.com a significant advantage; not only is JobShouts.com free, it broadcasts all jobs posted via Twitter using #jobs, job title, location and a link to the full job ad.  Using the hashtag “#jobs” makes it more searchable by those not following JobShouts on Twitter. In addition, job seekers can create private profiles (also free) that allow them to receive a direct message on Twitter when a job is posted that matches their profile.
Who is JobShouts.com?
JobShouts.com launched on January 26, 2009 and was founded by Robin M. Eads (@imjustagoyle) and Michael S. Quale (@tall_geek). Michael serves as the technical mastermind, while Robin serves as the recruiting industry expert.  Michael Quale offers 20+ years of technical experience ranging from network and database integration and security to Project Management. Robin Eads offers 15 years of recruiting experience in the IT and Telecommunications industries.

Why did you start JobShouts.com?
There has been a consensus for some time among recruiters that high volume job boards such as Monster, Dice and CareerBuilder have continued to decline in value. Data Security is questionable, fees are astronomical and employers complain of too many unqualified applicants that are being combed over by thousands of other recruiters. There is nothing unique about their service, other than they are large user-base boards. So what if there was a way to reach millions of people with a job ad that cost nothing to the employer? We decided that this concept would offer value to recruiters everywhere, whether corporate or agency. By integrating a job board with Twitter (and eventually other social media platforms such as Facebook), we are helping employers and job seekers connect through a social media channel they may already be using. JobShouts was founded with the purpose of reaching a virtually untapped audience of job seekers and employers. Since JobShouts doesn’t allow spam, MLM or work-at-home jobs, job seekers can be confident that the job leads they are receiving are legitimate.
Since our launch we have received more than 1500 job postings which include employers such as Microsoft, Google, eBay, AAA, JP Morgan, KPMG and more!
