Author Laura Clarizio: If I Had A Magic Carpet

In Advertiser on The Daily Blonde on 06/03/2009 at 2:02 am

    book_1

My children love to read. Even my thirteen year old who proclaims that he doesn’t really love school sits in a comfy chair and reads biographies. Reading is the basis for all things great as far as I am concerned. I grew up surrounded by books and still love going to the library or spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at the bookstore.

I met author Laura Clarizio by chance. She contacted me about being interviewed for a television piece she is producing about moms who blog. We started talking and she told me she published a series of children’s books and is presently working on the fourth book. My daughter, Mya, was going to be thrilled. She is in 2nd grade and an avid reader.

At age seven my second grade teacher Mrs. Allison Spatola assigned me my very first If I Had a Magic Carpet essay. I remember sitting on my rug dreaming of all the wonderful adventures me and my carpet could have together.

Years later I decided to share my fantasy with children, hoping they too would use their imagination and share my love for reading and writing. I decided to combine the magic carpet adventures with life lessons that could help keep children safe. - Laura Clarizio, Author: If I Had A Magic Carpet

What child wouldn’t want to go along for an adventure on a magic carpet? Combining this with important life lessons makes the If I Had A Magic Carpet series one that any elementary school parent would want their child to have. Laura has a passion for her books and loves sharing them with children.

From the first book in the If I Had A Magic Carpet series:

Ride along with Miranda and her magic carpet as she dashes off from adventure to adventure, helping others along the way. Miranda’s magic carpet can take you anywhere you want to go, but you should watch out for Ellery. At one time Ellery possessed the powers of the magic carpet, but his abuse of the secret carpet grounded him. Now Ellery is more determined than ever to get it back. As Miranda races to rescue those in need, Ellery is right behind her, hoping to steal back the magic carpet. Will good conquer evil in the end? Will Miranda’s magic carpet come to the rescue in time? To find out the answers, sit back, use your imagination and soar along with Miranda as she takes you on the ride of your life.

Paula Saardchit: A Successful, Strong and Sexy Businesswoman

In Advertiser on The Daily Blonde on 06/01/2009 at 11:17 pm

june spice adMy blog might be quirky, but the people I connect with because of it are just fabulous. When Paula Saardchit contacted me about advertising on my blog, I immediately loved her passion for her business. Paula explained that she had a website geared towards women and was successful in her business for the past eleven years. I was hooked by her personality, her graciousness and how she built her business on her own.

“I know this sounds cliche but getting into this business has literally changed my life. Six years ago I bought my first home (which is quite an achievement out here in California with real estate prices the way they are). I got myself completely out of credit card debt and started doing things I’d never been able to do like fix up my home, travel, buy a new car, help my children financially, and actually have money to save and invest (and not have to worry about how I was going to make ends meet each month).”

Stories like this motivate me. I immediately wanted her to be an advertiser on my blog. No, I don’t say yes to everyone who contacts me. I do this to help people promote their businesses and I want to help people who are passionate about what they do. If I wanted to make money to live on, I’d have to do something else. My theory is if we all help each other, good things will come of it. My ads pay for my hosting and design fees and I meet fabulous people like Paula. Making great connections is so important these days. Money…well, it helps, but I don’t have a big pot to piss in and we are pretty happy over here.

Back to Paula. You’re wondering…what’s her business? Lingerie parties. That’s right. I think that’s darned recession proof. This bright and gorgeous woman from Orange County, California says it best right here:

WOW. There is no greater feeling in the world than to know you’re helping women at such a level as to be literally changing ther lives for the better and helping them with something as important as their sexuality and the way they feel about themselves.
As if this wasn’t rewarding enough I have made everlasting friendships with some truly amazing women that I’ve met at my lingerie parties.
Even though I’ve been doing this for a pretty long time, I have never even remotely become bored with it or tired of it. It’s a dynamic, quickly-growing and ever-changing business and women have really evolved over the last decade. I’ve seen attitudes change in the 10 years I’ve been doing this. Women are more comfortable now with the idea of “experimenting” than they once were. They genuinely do want to be more active in making sure their relationships stay fresh and exciting. I love opening their minds to new possibilities and helping them do just that.

Her site is fun AND educational. Yes, you can be smart and sexy. Paula doesn’t just have a business, she communicates with women about things such as  Body Image, Massage, Pregnancy and Sex, and much more. She loves the career she has and is extremely successful. How many people can say they love what they do?

    Kendra Kett: Pinwheel Girls

When Kendra emailed me about advertising on my blog, I was immediately drawn to her passion for life. I love connecting with people who have experienced the ups and downs of life but turn it into something incredible. I encourage you to read more about Kendra and her “Pinwheel Girls” here and then go to her site www.pinwheelgirls.com to learn more. Her book is inspiring and so is Kendra.

I created Pinwheel Girls for every woman who has ever had to pretend to be less than she truly is. - Kendra Kett

Kendra Kett lives outside Chicago with her young son where they bothKendra Kett spend time drawing, writing, singing, dancing and creating. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education and is an award-winning school administrator for young children.

She has seen with symbolic sight and spoken in poetic metaphor since early childhood when her love for the mystical truly began. At the age of four, she recalls harnessing the strength of empowerment when she was hospitalized for, and survived, a life-threatening illness that had killed an entire prior generation of women in her family.

She considers herself a survivor of not just serious illness but also the numbing routinization of life, the dull ache of abandoned dreams, the sorrowful errors of youth, the blind following of rules and scripts, and the regrets that come with not knowing.

She created the Pinwheel Girls for every woman who knows how it feels to pretend to be less than you are.

The mission of the Pinwheel Girls is to heal and empower women.

The Pinwheel Girls communicate messages from certain moments in time during seven stages of metamorphosis. Through fluid poses, the Pinwheel Girls tell the story of going inside, unfolding, surfacing, expanding, ascending, coming back down, and sharing visions as they chronicle profound personal change with poetic “Messages from the Wind.”

Marvin D. Wilson: An Inspirational Author

In Advertiser on The Daily Blonde on 05/06/2009 at 3:46 pm

marvin11I “met” Marvin Wilson when I started blogging. He was one of the first connections I made in the blogging world and he gave this wild child a little lesson in spirituality by introducing me to his blog. I became a bigger fan after reading his book Owen Fiddler.

I hope you will take the time to check out Marvin’s blog, his books and get to know him in the social media world. He’s a phenomenal man with charm, wit and an amazing talent for telling a story. I am honored to have Marvin as an advertiser on The Daily Blonde.

Marvin D. Wilson is the author of three books, I Romanced the Stone (Memoirs of a Recovering Hippie), Between the Storm and the Rainbow, and Owen Fiddler. He has been awarded the prestigious Avatar award for excellence in spiritual books. Wilson has had articles published in several Ezines, and has been interviewed on hundreds of blogs, radio and TV shows. His popular blog is  InSpiritsandTruths.

“Anyone can appreciate the language and storytelling on the page, but Owen Fiddler is deeper for those who want to look – a colorful, unique, multi-layered cast of characters – you will walk away from this novel having at least been inspired to glimpse the possibility that there is more to life than a simple daily existence.” Lisa Haselton – award-winning author/editor/book critic

Wilson is a family man, married for thirty three years, with three children and six grandchildren. He has been around the block of life several times, through the hills and valleys, and has survived in good enough spirits to desire to write about life, and about living on purpose. He writes books that deliver spiritual and inspirational messages in an engaging, thought provoking, often times humorous, more than often irreverent, sometimes sexy and even ribald way, through the spinning of an entertaining tale.

What Others Are Saying About OWEN FIDDLER

I connected with Ken Montville, who writes MDSuburbanHomes.com, through Twitter. The most invaluable thing about Twitter is when we can get to know someone on a “Hey, nice to meet you!” level and then it turns into “So, what do you do for a living?”

Ken is extremely personable, which makes him someone you would want to go to if you had questions about real estate. When Ken started advertising on The Daily Blonde, I thought it would be great to have him write a guest post. The real estate market is in the limelight right now, so visit Ken’s site often to learn more!

    md-sub

We all know that all real estate is local. Unless you happen to listen to CNBC, CNN or any number of other national news outlets that are telling you about the “housing market”. Then, of course, it’s a universal phenomenon.

The fact is that, for the most part, real estate is local. Prices, foreclosure rates, supply of homes on the market and all kinds of other factors vary from place to place. Yet, there are certain common threads that are woven throughout the whole real estate tapestry. That’s what I blog about.

Sure, I blog about local events (and have an opinion about them) and I’ll even post about a listing or two from time to time. For the most part, though, I blog about the experience of either buying or selling a home – things like the type of mortgages that are out there and what makes them different from one another, what to expect during the home search and home buying process…and home selling process.

My beat is the MD Suburbs of DC. These includes areas both inside and outside the infamous Washington Beltway (you know it’s infamous because newsies always talks about “inside the Beltway”). Still uncertain? Here’s a Google Map that will give you a general idea.

Of course, if you want to know what I really think you can hit my blog – MD Suburbs or connect with me on: Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.
